What You'll Be Able To Do

Practice the three capabilities that turn unfamiliar places into human connection

    Joymakers participating in Mazatlán Carnaval

    1. Social Courage

Become comfortable going first in unfamiliar situations

Practice starting conversations, making invitations, taking small social risks, following curiosity and acting before hesitation talks you out of it.

    2. Social Attunement

Connect with people across unfamiliar environments

Read people and situations, adapt your energy, notice social cues, make people feel seen and interact with a culture instead of merely observing it.

    3. Group Activation

Turn passive moments into shared experiences

Practice initiating games, celebrations, conversations, invitations and spontaneous moments that bring people together.

    Practical skills you leave with

    • Social courage
    • Social intelligence
    • Group leadership
    • Human connection
    Are You a Fit?

If you want adventure to make you braver, you belong at Adventure Camp

You must have attended at least one Joymaker meeting, camp, or workshop before applying.

    • You want to explore a culture through people, not just attractions.
    • You prefer real adventure, streets, strangers and surprises to a curated resort experience.
    • You would rather practice courage in the real world than read another book about it.
    • You love being around people who encourage you to go further than you would alone.
    WHAT IS CAMP

Travel that makes you more alive—and more capable of bringing other people to life

Joymaker Adventure Camp is a less structured experience for applying Joymaking skills through travel, cultural immersion, and real experiences.

This isn't a retreat where you escape real life or a packaged tour where someone else creates every meaningful moment. You'll experience Mazatlán during Carnaval with a crew of 8 Joymakers while practicing the courage to connect, invite participation, create energy and make things happen.

    Why Mazatlán? Why Carnaval?

What happens when an entire city gives itself permission to celebrate?

Mazatlán gives you streets full of music, costumes, movement, food, beaches, neighborhoods and spontaneous invitations. The opportunity isn't simply to see the culture. It's to interact with it.

Most people travel somewhere and consume what has already been created. Adventure Camp challenges you to participate, connect, initiate and help create the experience.

    How It Works

    The city is your classroom

Learn something. Take it into the real world. Have an adventure. Come home with a story—and a new skill. Then do it again tomorrow.

    1. 01 · Learn

Start with one practical idea around Joymaking, courage, connection, social intelligence or leadership.

    2. 02 · Experiment

Choose a challenge and take it into Mazatlán.

    3. 03 · Immerse

Explore the city, Carnaval, neighborhoods, beaches, food, culture, people and spontaneous opportunities with your crew.

    4. 04 · Integrate

Come back together, trade stories, get feedback, extract the lesson and decide what you'll try next.

Leadership is a practiced skill, not a theory.

Social courage comes from reps with real people.

    Joymaking Missions

Turn the city into your playground for courage, connection & leadership.

    Mission 01

    Make a stranger laugh

No elaborate script. Just an invitation to create a small human moment.

    Mission 02

Start something that pulls people together

A game, toast, chant, dance, invitation or spontaneous moment.

    Mission 03

    Lead a celebration

Take the front. Set a tempo. Invite people in.

    Mission 04

    Turn an ordinary moment extraordinary

    A street corner. A restaurant. A walk. A bus ride. A queue.

    Mission 05

    Walk into somewhere knowing nobody

Leave with names, stories and people you're glad you met.

    Mission 06

Bring energy to a group that needs it

Read what's happening. Experiment with moving first.

The point isn't to perform. It's to get reps.

    The Daily Schedule

    A rhythm for adventure—not a rigid itinerary

Spontaneity is part of the experience. Each day creates room to learn, explore, participate and come home with stories.

I walked away not only more connected, but more courageous, more present, and more joyful in my day to day.”

Your home base for five nights of adventure

For five nights, we'll share a home base in Mazatlán—a place to recharge, trade stories, prepare for the next mission, and live with the same people you're adventuring with. The house isn't the destination. It's where the crew becomes a crew.

    Community, not luxury.

    The Joymaker Mission

We believe people can generate joy instead of merely consume it.

Most tourism is structured around consuming a destination. Adventure Camp asks you to participate in it. Joy can be generated between people.

    • Starting the conversation
    • Joining the moment
    • Making the invitation
    • Bringing strangers together
    • Interacting with the culture
    • Helping create the memory

You don't need to be funny, loud or performative. You need to be willing to go first.

    • Make the invitation.
    • Take the social risk.
    • Start something.
    • Elevate the people around you.
